The Commonwealth Foundation has announced the appointment of Razmi Farook as its next Director-General, following a unanimous endorsement from the Foundation’s 51 member countries.

Ms Farook, a seasoned leader in humanitarian diplomacy, inclusive governance, and civil society engagement, will officially assume her new role on 1 September 2025. She succeeds Dr Anne T. Gallagher AO, whose term concludes this year after a distinguished tenure at the helm of the Foundation.

With decades of experience working across the Commonwealth and globally, Ms Farook is known for her commitment to strengthening civic voices and promoting participatory governance. Her appointment marks a new chapter in the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to champion people-centred approaches and collaborative action on shared challenges.

In a statement issued on 4 June 2025, the Foundation expressed confidence in Ms Farook’s leadership:

“We look forward to Ms Farook’s stewardship as we continue to amplify civil society’s voice and uphold the values that bind the Commonwealth together.”

Ms Farook’s appointment comes at a time of growing global demand for inclusive, accountable, and citizen-driven governance – a mission that lies at the heart of the Commonwealth Foundation’s work.
